The laser software does not need the font installed. A design set in a font that exists only in Etch Express, including custom fonts uploaded to the store, engraves correctly on any machine.

It also removes font substitution, which is the usual cause of a job that looked correct on screen engraving in the wrong typeface.

Exported text cannot be edited as text in the laser software. Corrections are made in Etch Express and the file exported again.

This is the expected trade. Outlined text is what guarantees the engraved result matches the design.

Fonts uploaded to the store are outlined in exactly the same way as Google Fonts, so no additional setup is needed before exporting a design that uses them.
