Preview Mode replaces variable placeholders with actual values from the data table, so a layout can be checked before moving to the bed editor.
Turning it on
The Preview Mode toggle is the eye icon in the left toolbar of the Plate Editor, directly below the AI generate tool. It is on by default, so a newly opened design already shows real values. Hovering the icon indicates the current state.
State | Shows |
Off | Placeholders, such as {First Name} |
On | Real values drawn from the data table |
What it displays
Preview Mode shows the longest entry in the data rather than the first. This is deliberate, because the longest value is the one at risk of overflowing the plate.
A layout that fits in Preview Mode fits for every row.
What to check
Confirm that the longest values stay inside the plate, that multi-line content does not collide with other elements, and that fallback chains resolve as intended for rows with missing data.
