Adopt a Design Template From an Existing Design
On the Design Templates page, a new option lets you adopt a template from an existing design. Instead of starting from a blank canvas or importing an external file, you can turn a design you have already produced into a reusable template.
This sits alongside the existing ways to create templates, so you can pick whichever starting point matches how you work.
More Accurate Crystal Templates From Imported Files
When you import a crystal template, Etch Express now isolates the item boundary as a standalone outline so the result is indistinguishable from a template you upload by hand.
Boundary detection is also smarter for artwork with multiple pieces or fragmented paths, which are common in vendor exports. Segments that belong to the same outline are now chained and merged correctly, so your imported crystal plates come out clean and ready to use.
Smoother Design Template Imports
Template imports now process asynchronously. After you upload a file, the import runs in the background while you keep working, and you can track its status until it is ready.
Font matching and error handling have also improved, so imported templates line up more accurately with your original artwork and you get clearer feedback if something needs your attention.
