Text colour and fill

Colour is set per element in the properties panel, in the element editing step, for designs editors and managers.

Where the control sits

Text and variable elements carry a Text Color section holding a picker labelled Color. Rectangles, circles, triangles, diamonds, stars and images carry Fill Color instead. A section shows only when every selected element is of one type; text and variable count as one. Across a selection the swatch shows the first element's colour; a new choice applies to all.

Choosing a colour

The picker opens a grid of swatches, where a swatch marked with a red diagonal is transparent. Custom Hex below applies once six valid characters are present; an incomplete entry is discarded on leaving the field. Where the store colour format is RGB or CMYK, the field becomes R, G, B (0-255) or C, M, Y, K (0-100) channels. Colour is always stored as hex. Swatches and format come from Color Palette in store settings.

Defaults

New text inherits the formatting of the most common combination already on the plate, font, size and colour together, and is black where the plate has no text. New shapes and images start transparent, so a shape shows only its outline, coloured separately under Border at Border Color.

Images

On an image the picker is labelled Override Color and replaces the fills and strokes in the artwork; parts explicitly set to no fill or no stroke stay that way. Revert clears the override and restores the original colours.

What reaches the engraving

Colour is written into the exported file: shapes as fill and stroke, text as outlined paths of the same fill, an image override baked into its markup. A transparent fill exports as fill="none", so the shape carries only its border.
